Join Us for COVID-safe Fall activities at Rio Fernando Park

It has been a truly incredible summer at Rio Fernando Park. Amidst all of the challenges we’ve encountered this year, we did some amazing things with your support:

For the second year in a row, our cooperation with the students at Vista Grande High School has resulted in an impressive haul of fresh vegetables grown for our community.

Our Youth Conservation Corps members made impressive progress on invasive species control, restoration work, gardening, composting, and the construction of our new outdoor produce washing and packing station and outdoor learning center.

We delivered another 60 garden planter boxes and developed videos and materials to support box recipients as they get going on their gardens.

We continued our cooperation with Taos High School and the University of New Mexico Taos branch on natural resource management education. We improved our groundwater monitoring system and began developing systems and protocols for our long-term ecological monitoring program.

So much has happened this summer, and we’d love for you to see our efforts. This fall, we want to offer you the opportunity to see our progress at Rio Fernando Park and to help us prepare for 2022.

Rio Fernando Park Clean-Up – September 18, 2021

Volunteer to help clean up Taos Land Trust’s Rio Fernando Park on September 18th, 2021! We will be preparing garden beds for the fall and generally cleaning up the property and walking path. Select your preferred day/time below and meet us at 410 La Posta Rd with your mask on. Each tour is limited to 10 people. We will also host a clean-up day for the Vigil y Romo Acequia in later October – stay tuned for more info.

Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, we have to cancel our annual Fall Harvest Week and Matanza. We take the COVID pandemic seriously. The health and well-being of our community is our priority. Like all of you, we hope next year will bring brighter days and a return to gatherings at Rio Fernando Park.

In the meantime, join us outdoors!
