From our friends at the Western Landowners Alliance
Overview
New Mexico House Bill 332, The Rural Heritage Act, keeps land ownership affordable for New Mexico’s families; secures land, water and other natural resources for the future; and contributes positively to local governments and economies.
The programs considered under HB 332 will change New Mexico’s property tax structure in a way that keeps agriculturally viable lands intact and allows private landowners to partner with state and federal agencies to implement practices that assist in meeting agricultural and natural resource objectives.

Call to Action
Western Landowners Alliance has worked with multiple stakeholders for several years to develop and refine the premise behind HB 332. We appreciate the legislative sponsors of the bill and those who have contributed to this concept. We believe that this effort will result in improved opportunities for our citizens and landowners, while also ensuring that our prime agricultural lands stay whole and healthy for future generations.
Help New Mexico families remain on the land: participate in our Call to Action today by attending the committee hearing at the New Mexico Roundhouse (Feb 12) or by calling members of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee.
