Taos Land Trust is proud to continue the tradition of the local seed exchange, now in its 13th year, originally founded by the incomparable Nan Fischer.
At the helm of this effort is our Operations Director, Sarah Schildknecht. Each fall, Sarah writes donation requests to non-gmo seed companies across the country. Once the donations arrive, she carefully sorts them and distributes them to the eleven seed box locations throughout Taos County. In early spring, she hosts a community seed swap, inviting local gardeners to bring their saved seeds and discover new varieties to enrich their gardens.
Seed saving and sharing are vital to fostering local food sovereignty. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributes—whether by donating seeds, offering funds, or participating in the exchange. Together, we are cultivating a resilient and sustainable future.

**The Seed Exchange will be moving to a permanent location on Taos Land Trust property this year! In the meantime we are working to consolidate our efforts by limiting seed distribution, however you can still find seeds from us at the locations below.**
