The Rio Fernando Park Design Team is taking a Permaculture Design Approach in our work.

Permaculture is an interdisciplinary approach to holistic, long-term, land management and community development rooted in the observation and imitation of ecological processes. The word ‘Permaculture’ has been around since the 1970’s, but many aspects of the approach have been developed and practiced by land-based cultures around the world for millennia.

In Permaculture, our goal is to maximize efficient flow of resources while minimizing human impact on the land and waters. To do this, we develop zones of use, concentrating human impact and energy use as close to human development as possible.
