Sign-up For Emerging Ecologists School Program

We’re excited to invite local teachers to join our Emerging Ecologists School Program for a new season of hands-on learning! It’s time to sign up for our free spring workshops, designed to connect students with the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of our beloved high desert home. 

Emerging Ecologists School Program offers free standards-aligned workshops on a multitude of ecological and agricultural topics, flexible programming tailored to your grade level, and opportunities for students to explore our outdoor learning center while gaining stewardship skills.

Here’s just a few examples of workshops offered: 

• Ecosystem Engineers: Explore the ecological impact of beavers and other species through science, math, English, and engineering.
• Science of Compost: Dig into composting and discover the problem with food waste and what we can do about it.
• Acequia in Action: Learn about the history and culture of acequias in New Mexico, and lend a hand with ditch cleaning or field irrigation.
• Nature Writing: Blend writing techniques with ecological observation among the cottonwoods and pollinator meadows.

Email our Education Coordinator, Nora Wicks, at wicks@taoslandtrust.org to reserve your spring date. We’ll provide pre-visit lesson plans and post-trip project ideas to extend the learning. Homeschool pods and alternative education programs are also welcome. 

Partial funding for our Emerging Ecologists School Program is provided by community donors like you.
