What is the Taos Land Trust?

The Taos Land Trust is a nonprofit land conservation organization founded in 1988 to help preserve the natural and cultural landscapes, wildlife habitat and extraordinary natural beauty of the Taos area. We help residents protect their family lands through conservation easements, partner with other organizations to secure major public land acquisitions, and work with local government on long-range land use planning. We offer an informed neutral voice and information for landowners about planning and stewardship.

Since 1988 we have permanently protected approximately 22,000 acres throughout northern New Mexico through voluntary conservation easements with 29 landowners and through the public acquisition of the Taos Valley Overlook and Ute Mountain near Costilla.
